Maine has so many beautiful places to host an outdoor wedding. There are beaches, parks, islands, lakes, mountains and of course the ocean...so many ideas to choose from!
So...let's dig in and go exploring!
I have some great ideas here for various venues that offer an option for an outdoor wedding. You can also scroll to the bottom to check out other listings that have been submitted.
Update July 4, 2011: Exciting news for Maine wedding business owners, learn how you can advertise here, free!
Island weddings - Picture yourself cruising out to one of the many islands in Casco Bay for a beautiful sunset wedding outside one of the local restaurants or Inns on an island.

Beach weddings - Would you enjoy a cool ocean breeze on a hot summer day while exchanging wedding vows with your toes in the sand? Mmmmmmm......smell the fresh ocean air!
One beach that comes to mind immediately is Higgins beach in Scarborough. I frequent that beach often due to the lower volume of tourists. It is a relatively small beach at high tide, but at low tide you can walk quite a distance! Some areas are edged by a barrier of rocks, such great photo opportunities!

Lakeside weddings - A beach doesn't necessarily have to be the ocean either! Another option for outdoor weddings here in Maine is on a lake. Maine has many beautiful lakes. One that comes to mind right away, Sebago Lake!

Local park weddings - Picture yourself exchanging wedding vows with a beautiful ocean view and historic lighthouse in the background.

Boat cruise weddings - What a way to create a memory of a lifetime for both you and your guests. Just visualize yourself on the top deck standing on the bow and professing your love to one another in such a majestic place.

Garden weddings - Close your eyes and imagine the sounds of song birds and running water in a small stream, surround by flowers and trees as your exchange your vows!

Clay Hill Farm
These are just some of the places that I have thought of...there are so many more! After all...Maine does expand over 800 miles from the most southern tip to the most northern tip!
Tips:
Consider renting a wedding tent in case of rain.
Some say the mosquito should be the new state bird…they can get quite fierce especially in the evening during spring and summer.
Tidbit: Beauty surrounds us every day, just look!
